SKYCAM

Sky Cam is our newest three stage rocket. Each stage is powered by one Estes D12 engine. The first stage also has four Estes A10-0 engines as boosters. It has a small digital video camera onboard, that records 30 seconds of color video at 320x240 resolution and 10fps.

We used a small Bell&Howelll digital camera. It's very small and light weight making it perfect for rocketry.

All in all, Skycam and the camera works very well. It flew over 2500 feet. The rocket is very stable for the first two stages. However, the fins on the main rocket are too small and after the second stage separation the rocket starts to spin. I will have to add larger fins to the top stage to make it more stable.
